Safe Drinking Water Project

The "Safe Drinking Water for the Poor People" project was implemented by RSUF in Paturia village, Kalukhali, Rajbari, with financial support from Shanti Switzerland. Paturia is a remote, arsenic-vulnerable area where underground water levels drop significantly during dry seasons, rendering normal tube-wells ineffective and forcing residents to rely on unsafe water sources.

To solve this problem, RSUF constructed a four-story water tower featuring two 10,000-liter storage tanks and installed a deep solar-powered pump system using 10 solar panels. The team laid 7,653 feet of distribution pipeline to establish 30 water collection points, supplying tested arsenic-free water to the community.

The project benefits approximately 2,450 people daily, including 300 local households, around 450 people from a local mosque and madrasa, and 200 daily travelers. For long-term sustainability, small user committees look after each tap point, RSUF's students assist with basic solar maintenance, and villagers contribute to a shared bank account to fund major repairs.
