From Darkness to Light: The Story of My Second Life
I am Mim Khatun a 24 year old divorced woman. I was born and raised in a small village called Paturia under Kalukhali Upazila in Rajbari district. My family was extremely poor. My parents struggled hard just to make ends meet. From a very young age, I dreamed of standing on my own feet one day not being a burden on my family, but supporting them instead. But life tested me in the cruelest way.
I got married at a young age, but the marriage did not last. After the divorce, my life completely fell apart. Society pointed fingers at me and called me “a bearer of bad luck”. I faced dirty looks, unwanted advances, and a flood of humiliation from all sides. People whispered behind my back and some insulted me openly. My family was financially very weak. The mental pressure became so heavy that many nights I cried myself to sleep. I felt like my life was finished there was no hope, no honor, and no future left for me.
It was during this darkest time that the Rahamatunnesa Shikkha Unnayan Foundation (RSUF) came into my life like a ray of light. I joined their 3rd batch for the two year Electrical Training program at Rahmatunnesa Skill Training Institute (RSTI). At first, I was very scared. I had never learned any technical work before. Cutting wires, wiring, circuits everything was completely new to me. But the encouragement from the trainers and my own strong determination pushed me forward. Slowly, my confidence began to return.
After completing the training, RSUF made special arrangements for me. They contacted and sent me for industrial training at Super Star Group. There, for the first time, I got the opportunity to work in a real factory environment. Seeing my interest and hard work, the company offered me a permanent job.
Today, I work as an Electrician in the Table Fan manufacturing section of Super Star Group. Every day, I make and assemble the electrical parts of table fans. The girl whom society once wanted to push away as “cursed” is now contributing meaningfully to a big company’s production line with her own skills and effort.
After getting this job, my life has completely changed. Now I am self-reliant. Every month I send money to my parents and can fulfil their small wishes. I have gained financial security along with mental peace. Even now, I sometimes hear negative comments from society, but I no longer allow them to control my life. I have proved to myself that I can do it.
My biggest dream now is to build a beautiful family again. I want to remarry. I am looking for a life partner who will respect my independence and not judge my past. Together, we will both work, take care of our family, and build a better future.
Rahmatunnesa Shikkha Unnayan Foundation is the greatest blessing in my life. They did not just teach me skills they gave me the courage to live again. I am forever grateful to them.
Today, I am no longer just a divorced woman. I am Mim Khatun a self-reliant, hardworking woman who dares to dream. My journey may inspire many divorced sisters to believe that life never truly ends. No matter how deep the darkness is, with the right opportunity, personal effort, and courage, one can rise again into the light.
Life can begin a second time. I am living proof of that.
